Mimo is an app teaching computer science in a fun and interactive way, so you can learn to code and build apps.
In 2015, Dennis, Henry, Johannes, and Lorenz collectively dropped out of school and quit their jobs to work on a better way of learning. After three months at the Techstars accelerator program, the group of four launched the Mimo app in August 2016. The app was picked up by news media and featured in the App Store in over 100 countries. While growing quickly, the company continues to believes in data-driven decision making as well as the importance of focus, fun, self-motivation, and transparency.
The app breaks down computer science lessons into small chunks allowing aspiring coders to practice coding in short lessons that may not take longer than a few minutes to complete. Each lesson begins with a short sentence, a code snippet to interact with, and motivational feedback after each interaction. The gamified app also lets users, or players, collect points and badges as they progress. To learn more about the courses offered, and who the app is catering to, visit here.
